World Hunger

Faith Lutheran has a strong tradition of giving to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal. We have received the 2015 Synod River of Giving Award for being a leader in our synod.  Our gifts in 2015 totaled almost $10,000, making us one of the top 20 giving churches of any size in the entire United States. You can find out what the World Hunger appeal is currently working on by following this link: ELCA World Hunger.

We believe that just as Jesus feeds us by his grace, we extend that grace by helping to feed the world. We also gave $2,610 to our local food shelf’s in addition to our regular offerings of food collected throughout the year at our church.

Lutheran World Relief/Disaster Relief

Where ever disaster strikes, we want the grace of God to be ready to help pick up the pieces and rebuild. Last year we gave $6,329 to help when there was an earthquake, floods, and to help the refugees coming out of Syria. Learn more by clicking on this link: Lutheran Disaster Response

Support for Local Aid Organizations

We are in this community for good! Part of the way we support our local community is through direct service aid. We maintain an emergency assistance fund to help people who come to us in need. We give to the W-K Scholarship Fund, Good Earth Village Bible Camp, Star of Hope Christmas appeal, Winona Campus Ministry, Ronald McDonald House in Rochester, and the local chapters of Bread for the World and Lutheran Social Services. Our gifts totaled in 2016: $3,500. All of it collected through generous free will offerings of our members.

Our Sister Synod in Tanzania

We gave $900 last year to help our brothers and sisters in Christ in their mission to spread the Gospel of grace. Every few years, we also organize a synod wide mission trip of youth and young adults to grow from our mutual relationship of supporting each other.

We are a part of something much bigger than ourselves. By belonging to our local congregation, you also join a network of 9,300 churches working together to make a difference in our world. Last year, we gave $13,470 to the SE MN Synod of which a little more than half is passed on to the national ELCA church.
