How Can You Help?

Before we list off all of the opportunities to serve Christ in the church, it is first important to emphasize that you are already the hands of Christ in your world.  The church exists to help you and others live out your calling as a child of God in the world.  Whatever you are already doing to make this world a better place for others is a part of helping the church to be the body of Christ.

Here is a list of opportunities in which you can help make our faith community stronger:

Worship:  participate in worship regularly–your voice helps others hear and praise God more robustly, more clearly.  We value and depend on lay leaders to read the lessons, usher, serve communion, help lead the singing, videotape the service, and provide coffee fellowship.

Music:  join a vocal choir, handbell choir, lead music for children’s Sunday School, play an instrument in worship.

Education:  be a Sunday School teacher or a substitute for other teachers, lead in our summer Vacation Bible School, be a youth mentor, participate in weekly Bible Study (9 a.m. on Wednesdays or variously scheduled times), lead an adult discussion during the Sunday School hour.

Family Life Activities:  join our Kids For Christ planning team, help receive new members, help with the annual golf outing.

Ministries:  participate in our monthly free community meals, packing for the weekend food in backpacks at school, Cookie Walk coordinator, Soup and Sandwich luncheon, Salad luncheon coordinator, Help feed those who’ve lost a loved one to death, Quilt blankets for our high school seniors, join the altar guild in caring for the paraments and communion set up/clean up, make banners for worship seasons.

Outreach:  volunteer to do hospital visits, homebound visits, highway clean up, new member mentor, provide transportation to worship for someone else.

Hospitality:  Be a greeter, bus tables, help in the kitchen.

Office Work:  count offering, computer tech support, newsletter assembly, annual report assembly, create bulletin boards, scheduling coordinator, special project assistance.

Church maintenance:  semi-annual church cleanup, lawn mowing, indoor plant care, landscaping.

Council, committees, officers:  serve as part of our leadership and decision makers.
